Family Mountain Biking Adventure

A guided family mountain bike experience in the beautiful French Alps.

During this trip you’ll explore some of the best family-friendly trails in the French Alps, including our kids’ favourite bike parks. We can tailor the trip to suit the ages and abilities of all family members, with more emphasis on backcountry singletrack trails or bike park fun according to your preferences. It’s all about putting smiles on everyone’s faces and enjoying a special family adventure together.

The composition of your family group is up to you. We can accommodate single family units, two families combined, a group of mums and daughters or fathers and sons. It’s up to you. The maximum number is 8 people.

What is included?
The package includes five days of guiding with 7 nights excellent chalet-style accommodation (7 nights bed and breakfast and afternoon tea, dinner for 5 nights) and van support for uplifts and trip logistics. Airport transfers from and back to Geneva are optional.

We allow for one day off during your week to give younger (or older!) riders a break from the bikes and to enable you to try one of the many other fantastic family activities on offer in the Haut Giffre valley, including rafting, pony trekking, climbing, via ferrata, and canyoneering.

There is the option of adding in an outstanding mini point-to-point adventure into the week long itinerary with a memorable night in an alpine refuge. Email us for more information.

When can I ride the route?
Choose your own dates. We will run this trip from mid-June to end of August.

How do I get there?
Fly or take the train to Geneva airport and we will arrange to collect you and take you to your accommodation. Or you can drive direct.

How hard is it going to be?
Our Family Mountain Biking Adventures are designed for keen mountain biking families who are reasonably fit and ride regularly. You don’t have to be an experienced mountain biker to ride these trips but some intermediate skills would be preferable. The riding in the Alps is hugely varied and it can be technically demanding in places. It is definitely a step-up from riding blue trails in UK trail centres. We take full advantage of the network of cable cars in the area and use our van for uplifts but there will still be some uphill peddling to be done (this can be minimised or extended as you wish!). The trip can be tailored to suit your skills and fitness, however, this is not a trip for absolute beginners. We aim to do as much riding as possible whilst exploring a few different areas, aimed at the level to suit your group. Email us for more information.

The maximum altitude is approximately 2,200m so there are no problems with altitude sickness.

What is the accommodation like?
The week long trip is centre-based in the beautiful traditional Savoyard village of Samoëns in the Haut Giffre valley. We use excellent chalet-style accommodation with ensuite rooms. There is also the possibility of sourcing your own accommodation if you prefer.

What sort of bike do I need to bring?
An enduro or all-mountain style mountain bike with 4-6 inch travel. Your bike must be in good working order, recently serviced prior to the trip. Full suspension, disc brakes and tyres suitable for alpine terrain are all recommended for this trip. Contact us to discuss the suitability of your kids’ bikes. It is possible to rent bikes from a local hire shop.
